Many areas of Long Island have received thunderstorms with heavy downpours the last couple of evenings, and this evening will bring more of the same. The time to watch is between 4 PM and 10 PM. Here is the forecast map from the NAM model at 8 PM tonight showing heavy thunderstorms in the area:

There will also be showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain at times on Friday and into Friday night before dry air works into the region. From now through late Friday night, many areas on Long Island will pick up between 1 and 3 inches of rain. The weekend looks great with mostly sunny skies for both Saturday and Sunday with temperatures in the 80's.
