Harvey to Impact Texas with Massive Flooding, and an Update on Long Island Weather
After a very warm and humid day on Long Island, the cold front will move through overnight with showers and thunderstorms between midnight tonight and 10 AM tomorrow. Skies will begin to clear in the middle of the afternoon tomorrow and there will be a sharp decrease in humidity. Thursday all the way into next Tuesday looks to be a stretch of beautiful weather with temperatures in the mid to upper 70's in the day and low 60's at night with low humidity levels.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Harvey are expected to regenerate into a Tropical Storm and potentially a Hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico over the next couple of days before making landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and Galveston, Texas on Friday morning (Image 1). It will bring wind damage and the potential for massive flooding as it is expected to stall after making landfall and meander for several days over east Texas and Louisiana. 10 to 25 inch rainfall totals are possible (Image 2). There is still some uncertainty with the exact strength and location, so I will continue to update.
In addition, a tropical system may develop off the coast of Florida this weekend before heading northeast out to sea.
