Potential for Tropical Storm or Hurricane Nate to Make Landfall Between New Orleans and the Florida
A tropical system is expected to form later this week in the western Caribbean Sea, and it's expected to move northward and potentially impact an area between New Orleans and the Florida Panhandle on Sunday.
The GFS and Euro keep the strength of future Nate to a Tropical Storm, but the HWRF model, which is the best intensity model for tropical systems, brings it as a Category 2 hurricane right into New Orleans.
It looks as if there is a pretty good chance that the remnants of the tropical system could bring moderate to heavy rainfall to Long Island in the Monday/Tuesday period.
