Storm Details for Today and Another Storm Sunday Night
A very slow moving frontal system will bring periods of heavy rain and wind today into late tonight for NYC to Long Island. The heaviest rain from this morning into this evening will mainly be focused over NYC and western Long Island. By around 10 PM, the heavy rain will start making progress moving into Suffolk County. There will also be strong southerly winds gusting 30 mph to 40 mph. Generally, 1.5 to 3 inches of rain is expected for Long Island. Complicating matters further will be a wave of low pressure that will develop along the front Thursday, which will bring heavy rain for eastern New England, particularly Cape Cod to Maine.
There will be another big rain and wind storm for Sunday night as a storm from the tropics will combine with a frontal system. The main area of heavy rain will move through Sunday night into Monday morning. The weather looks good for Halloween with sunny skies and temps in the upper 50's.
