Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Headed for Long Island
The European model is showing wind gusts of 65 mph to 85 mph on Long Island. Complicated forecast with multiple storms, including Tropical Storm Philippe. The rain should begin this morning and get steadier this afternoon and heavier tonight. The strong winds are mainly for this evening into tomorrow morning. Philippe is expected to pass east of Montauk and pass over Cape Cod and into eastern Maine. Generally expect 2 to 4 inches of rain on Long Island with wind gusts up to 50 mph in Nassau and 60 mph in Suffolk, but keep in mind that the Euro is showing a stronger storm further west which brings in the heavy wind gusts, so it's still a possibility.
