Long Island Snowstorm Potential for Thursday
Snowstorm potential increases for Thursday, especially for Suffolk. There is still uncertainty in the storm track for the monster offshore storm. The GFS has it barely skimming Long Island, but the Euro is showing it coming close enough to bring 9 to 14 inches to Suffolk and 6 to 9 inches to Nassau.
From the NWS... "sensitivity to this forecast appears to be tied to nature of energy rounding an Aleutians low tonight into Monday (modulated by wave packet energy emanating from central Pacific), which will ultimately phase with and dig the Polar jet mid week. Would think that models should have a better handle on this energy 30-36 hrs from now when it is over North America."
The Arctic outbreak continues all week, and if there is snow cover from the potential storm on Thursday, temperatures could drop below zero on Long Island at night next weekend.
