Memorial Day Weekend Forecast for Long Island and a Tropical Update

Tomorrow will be sunny with temps in the low to mid 80's. Increasing clouds Saturday afternoon with temps in the low 80's. There is a slight chance of a late afternoon thunderstorm, but nothing to worry about. Rain Saturday night into Sunday morning, but Sunday afternoon may just be cloudy with temps in the mid to upper 60's and only a slight chance of a shower. Some showers are probable for late Sunday night into early Monday morning, but Memorial Day may just be cloudy and cool with temps in the low to mid 60's.

The odds of tropical development in the eastern Gulf has increased to 70%. It should make landfall, possibly as Tropical Storm Alberto, on Memorial Day somewhere between New Orleans and the Florida Panhandle. The UKMET is closer to the west coast of Florida than the Euro model. 5 to 15 inch rain potential still exists for areas just east of the center.
