Forecast for Long Island and a Quick Update on the Tropics
See the "My Personal Weatherman" Facebook page for daily updates.
- While there is still the potential for a few tropical systems to develop, the signals are relatively weak (see 1st image). The best chance will be for a system to come up from the southwestern Caribbean towards the western Gulf of Mexico late next week. - Overall, not a lot of rain is expected on Long Island for the next 10 days (possibly less than 1 inch total). See 2nd image. - Today: Partly sunny and less humid this afternoon with highs close to 80 degrees. There is only a 15% chance of an isolated shower this afternoon. - Tomorrow: Possible fog in the morning with an onshore flow. It will be mostly cloudy and cooler with highs in the upper 70's with increasing humidity in the afternoon and evening. The NAM is showing some showers possible by late afternoon and evening, so we have to keep an eye on that. - Saturday: Partly cloudy and humid with a 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs in the low 80's. Possibly a better chance of thunderstorms late Saturday night. - Sunday: Partly cloudy, warmer, and humid with highs in the mid 80's. 20% chance of a shower or thunderstorm. - Monday: Partly to mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the upper 80's. Can't rule out a stray shower or thunderstorm in the late afternoon or early evening. - Tuesday: Continued hot and humid with highs in the upper 80's. A cold front may approach by evening with a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. - 1st image: Projected storm tracks from the Euro ensembles for the next 10 days.
