Update on Ice and Snow in New England and Long Island Weather
See the "My Personal Weatherman" Facebook page for frequent updates.
- Most of the rain from the main storm will be confined to eastern New England today (see 4th image), so for Long Island there will just be a few light spotty showers possible at times, but overall there will be very little rainfall today. It will be cloudy, breezy, and cool with highs mostly in the mid 40's. A 2nd system will bring rain tonight from around 10 PM into tomorrow morning with most of the rain being done by around 7 AM. - Significant icing is expected for parts of New England and NY state tonight into early tomorrow (see 1st image). - After the showers tomorrow morning, fair weather is expected for Long Island tomorrow into Thursday. - There is some uncertainty for the weekend, but expecting some showers on Friday as a cold front moves through. There may be some snow for northern New England. The GFS and Euro differ on the weekend, but leaning towards the Euro with a 2nd storm for Saturday night into Sunday with rain for Long Island and snow for parts of New England. I will be watching this and updating on it. - There is a 50% chance of Tropical or Subtropical Storm Rebekah forming in the Atlantic this week (see last image), but it's nothing to worry about. - 1st image: Projected freezing rain (ice) accumulation from the Euro. This is mostly for tonight into tomorrow morning. - 2nd and 3rd images: Snow maps from the Euro and NAM through 1 PM Wednesday. - 4th to 6th images: Simulated radar from the HRRR model for 1 PM today, 11 PM tonight, and 6 AM tomorrow.
