Update on the Rain Later This Week and the Potential Storm Next Wednesday

- The storm from yesterday and last night was impressive as I saw ice accretion totals as high as 1 inch (in Massena, NY) and reports of thunderstorms with snow, sleet, and freezing rain in CT and MA. There was also hail as large as 1 inch in diameter. Some spots on Long Island had up to 1.5 inches of rain, and wind gusts were up to 40 mph in Nassau and 50 mph in Suffolk yesterday afternoon. - For Long Island, today will be partly cloudy with varying amounts of clouds and sun throughout the day with highs around 48 degrees, but it will be breezy. Temps at midnight in NYC should be around 39 or 40 degrees, but the breeze will make it feel like it's 30 degrees. - There will be on and off rain showers for Friday and Saturday, and only northern New England may see some snow from this system, mostly late Saturday night into Sunday afternoon. - Of course, there is still uncertainty with the potential storm for next Wednesday. Look at the 1st image and the wide range of potential temperatures for Long Island. This is due to the uncertain storm track. However, the odds favor a mostly rain event for Long Island, but there are still a handful of Euro ensembles showing a snowstorm (see 2nd image).
