50's for some areas in the northeast today with the same areas in the mid 90's this weekend:

- I've included the projected highs for today and for Saturday in the 2nd and 3rd images so you can see the huge difference for some areas of southern New England.

- Sunday will likely only be a couple of degrees "cooler" for most areas as the cold front with showers and thunderstorms likely won't make it to Long Island until the evening.

- MUCH cooler next Tuesday and Wednesday with an onshore flow.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Rain ending between around 11 AM and 2 PM from west to east and then remaining mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 60's in Nassau and in the low 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end, where highs will be in the upper 50's. Wind out of the SE at around 10 mph in the morning and then variable direction in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a very slight chance of a passing shower in the evening with lows in the mid 50's in Nassau and low 50's in Suffolk. Wind mostly light and variable.

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70's in Nassau and low 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the SSE at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of a passing shower with lows around 60 degrees in Nassau and mostly mid to upper 50's in Suffolk. Wind out of the S at around 10 mph.

Saturday: Becoming mostly sunny and fairly humid with highs in the mid 80's in Nassau (upper 80's in northwestern Nassau) and mid 80's in northwestern Suffolk and low to mid 80's in central Suffolk, and cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny and fairly humid with a very slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm late in the day with highs in the mid 80's in Nassau and low 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 20 mph. Showers and possibly a rumble of thunder are more likely in the evening/night.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower. Cooler and less humid with highs in the mid 70's in Nassau and low to mid 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly cloudy and even cooler with highs in the upper 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the ENE at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of a few showers with highs in the upper 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the E at 10 to 15 mph.
