A pretty nice week overall:

Wildfire smoke arrives early this evening, warmer tomorrow with a chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon, a slight chance of a shower late Thursday and late Friday, and a nice weekend as well with any rain chance likely holding off until Sunday night with warmer weather next week.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Partly sunny with highs in the mid 70's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNW at 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy overall with haze from wildfire smoke with lows near 60 in Nassau and mid to upper 50's in Suffolk. Wind out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow: Hazy sunshine from wildfire smoke and also more clouds in the afternoon with some widely scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening with highs in the upper 70's in Nassau and mid to upper 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the WNW/NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tomorrow night: Slight chance of an evening shower/thunderstorm, otherwise mostly clear to partly cloudy with lows in the mid to upper 50's in Nassau and mid 50's in Suffolk. Wind out of the NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with highs mostly in the mid 70's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon with a 30% chance of a shower with highs in the low 70's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NW then WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Friday: Partly to mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower in the afternoon with highs in the low to mid 70's in Nassau and low 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NNW/NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 70's, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the NW at around 5 mph in the morning and then out of the W then SSW at around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mostly sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon with highs in the upper 70's in Nassau and mid to upper 70's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and especially the east end. Wind out of the SW/SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the

afternoon.
