It still looks like a break in the action from around 3 PM to 7 PM, and then an impressive line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms for this evening, reaching NYC around 6 to 7:30 PM and Long Island from west to east from around 7 PM to 10 PM. The best chance for severe thunderstorms is western Long Island and points west, but there can still be a strong to severe thunderstorm in Suffolk as well. The tornado threat is shown in the 2nd image. Any of these storms can contain heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and hail.
