Brief 3:45 AM post on the late-week rain/wind after the beautiful weather:

The potential is there for some heavy rain with wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph for Long Island and southeastern New England Thursday night into Friday morning. We will have to see if a wave of low pressure forms along the cold front. It's interesting to see both the GFS and Euro showing max rainfall amounts in some areas of the northeast over 5 inches since it at least shows the potential. The 1st image is the max gusts from the Euro in knots, and the 2nd and 3rd images are the rainfall from the Euro and GFS. Beautiful weather though the next 4 days after a very chilly start with temps mostly in the upper 30's on Long Island right now.
