Brief Update on Thunderstorms Today and Hurricane Laura
Thunderstorms are moving steadily southeastward. This video shows the projected radar from 4 PM to 7 PM. Heavy downpours, strong wind gusts, and hail are possible in these thunderstorm cells.
Hurricane Laura is still at 75 mph maximum sustained winds, but it's still expected to intensify steadily and become a major hurricane as it heads towards the TX/LA coast. The images below the videos show the latest projections from the HWRF model at 8 PM tomorrow. The new Euro just came in really strong right now. I will have more detailed updates later this afternoon and evening.
The new GFS ensembles in the last image shows the potential re-strengthening as the remnants of Laura emerge off the east coast this weekend.
