- Rainfall amounts overall have decreased for Long Island with less than an inch (closer to a half-inch for eastern Suffolk) from the first system, and the 2nd storm will bring heavy rain, but the duration won't be as long as previously expected. - The closed-off upper level low and associated surface low will bring some afternoon showers Tuesday and Wednesday and possibly Thursday as well.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Mostly cloudy in the morning and cloudy in the afternoon and becoming breezy with showers developing between around 4 PM and 7 PM from southwest to northeast with highs in the upper 50's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the E/ESE at around 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Rain developing early in the evening with a chilly and windy rain through the night with lows in the upper 40's in Nassau and mid to upper 40's in Suffolk. Wind out of the E at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
Tomorrow: Rainy, chilly, and windy with highs in the low 50's. Wind out of the E at 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
Tomorrow night: Showers and drizzle, mainly before 2 AM, and breezy with lows in the upper 40's. Wind out of the ENE/NE at 10 to 20 mph with gusts near 30 mph early.
Sunday: Cloudy with a slight chance of a morning shower with rain then developing around early afternoon and becoming breezy with highs in the low 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the ENE at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday night: Rain, heavy at times, with a slight chance of a thunderstorm and breezy with the rain ending before morning with lows in the low 50's. Wind out of the ESE at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
Monday: Partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the low 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Wednesday: Partly to mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of some afternoon showers with highs in the upper 50's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the W/WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Thursday: Partly to mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of some afternoon showers with highs in the upper 50's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NW/NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
