Cooler weekend before the heat starts to build:
- The northern extent of the showers for late tonight into early afternoon tomorrow will be a close call, but will likely make it to Long Island (see future radar below in the last 3 images). It will be cooler with highs mostly in the mid to upper 70's tomorrow.
- Much warmer to hot and humid for Tuesday and Wednesday with highs mostly in the upper 80's with 90 degrees possible for northern Nassau and northwestern Suffolk.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Partly sunny and humid with a very slight chance of a late afternoon shower or thunderstorm with highs in the low to mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind light and variable in the morning and then out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Increasing clouds and humid with some showers, mostly after midnight with lows in the upper 60's. Wind generally light and variable.
Tomorrow: Cloudy in the morning with a 60% chance of some showers and then becoming partly cloudy later in the afternoon with highs mostly in the mid to upper 70's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the ENE at 5 to 10 mph.
Tomorrow night: Clearing skies with lows mostly in the low 60's. Wind out of the NE at around 5 mph.
Sunday: Sunny with low humidity with highs in the upper 70's to near 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NE in the morning and ESE in the afternoon at 5 to 10 mph.
Monday: Sunny with low to moderate humidity with highs just above 80 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, breezy, much warmer, and more humid with highs in the upper 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 mph in the morning and 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy, hot, and humid with a 30% chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon/evening with highs in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 15 mph.
