Fascinating temperature map for 2 PM Thursday:

The warm air is being squeezed by an approaching cold front to the west and a backdoor cold front across central MA. The following is from NWS Boston: The warm front associated with the large surface low over the Great Lakes is pushed back southwest into southern New England as a secondary low forms overhead along the frontal boundary. This brings a backdoor cold front into northeast MA; the boundary will have two different airmasses fighting to push it north or south, and this will determine first and foremost who sees anomalous warmth during the afternoon. One thing that is for sure is that temperatures will be vastly different from southwest CT to northeast MA. The former could very feasibly reaching the low 80s while the latter remains stuck in the 40s/50s.
