The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for...
Western Suffolk County in southeastern New York...
* Until 915 AM EDT.
* At 714 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of heavy rain with
isolated thunderstorms across the warned area. Up to one and a
half inches of rain has already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing
or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Islip, Lindenhurst, Babylon, Commack, Hauppauge, Robert Moses State
Park, Deer Park, Brentwood, Ronkonkoma, Amityville, Bay Shore,
Captree State Park, Sayville, Melville and Dix Hills.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the
warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
