- While there can be a strong thunderstorm on Long Island, the best chance for severe weather is to the north and west of Long Island.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Partly sunny, hot, and humid with a 30% chance of a shower or thunderstorm with highs mostly in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Light and variable wind in the morning and then 10 mph to 15 mph in the afternoon out of the S to SSE.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy and very humid with a 70% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, mostly after 8 PM. Lows in the low to mid 70's. Wind around 5 to 10 mph from the SSW.
Tomorrow: Chance of early morning showers and thunderstorms and then partly to mostly cloudy and humid with a 30% chance of a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Highs mostly in the low 80's. Wind out of the SSW to WSW at around 5 to 10 mph.
Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy with moderate humidity and a 30% chance of an afternoon thunderstorm with highs mostly in the upper 70's to low 80's. Wind around 5 to 10 mph from varying directions.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny with moderate humidity with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm with highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind mostly out of the W at 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a 40% chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon/evening. Highs mostly in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind mostly out of the W at 5 to 10 mph.
