Tropical Storm Watches extended up the NJ coast, and they will likely be issued for Long Island when the 5 PM advisory comes out.

Regarding re-intensification when it re-emerges off the Mid-Atlantic coast, this is from the NHC: "Some slight reintensification is shown when the center moves near the coast in 48-60 hours. However, since the water temperatures are rather cool near the northeast coast, strengthening will probably be influenced by baroclinic forcing associated with a 500 mb shortwave trough."
