High Wind Warning for both Nassau and Suffolk for potentially damaging wind gusts:

- The High Wind Warning for Long Island is from 11:00 tonight to 10:00 tomorrow morning for gusts from the S to SW up to 60 mph in Nassau and 65 mph in Suffolk with the strongest gusts from around 1 AM to 7 AM. From the NWS: "Damaging winds will bring down numerous tree limbs, as well as scattered downed trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles."

- The temperatures will drop sharply once the cold front passes tomorrow morning as temperatures in the 50's early in the morning will fall into the low 40's by late morning or early afternoon and then the upper 30's by late afternoon.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

***High Wind Warning for all of Long Island from 11:00 tonight to 10:00 tomorrow morning with wind gusts from the S to SSW up to 65 mph in Suffolk and up to 60 mph in Nassau.***

Today: Mostly cloudy, breezy, and mild with highs in the mid 50's. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight: Rain mostly after 10 PM and becoming heavy at times and very windy and mild with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. Temperatures remaining in the 50's. Wind out of the SSW to S at 20 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph in Nassau and 65 mph in Suffolk with the strongest gusts between 1 AM and 7 AM.

Tomorrow: Rain ending from west to east between 7 AM and 9 AM and then becoming partly to mostly sunny, and it will be windy. Temperatures in the 50's early in the morning and then falling to the low 40's by late morning or early afternoon and then upper 30's by late afternoon. Wind becoming out of the WNW to NW at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear, breezy, and cold with lows in the low 20's in Nassau and mostly upper teens in Suffolk. Wind out of the NW in the evening and 10 to 15 mph and shifting to SSW by morning at 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny early in the morning with more clouds in the afternoon and becoming very windy with highs in the low 40's. Wind out of the SW in the morning at 10 to 20 mph and then then WNW to W at 20 to 30 mph with gusts over 35 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Mostly clear and windy, but with a diminishing wind after midnight and towards morning. Lows mostly in the low 20's. Wind out of the WNW to NW at 15 to 25 mph and then decreasing to around 10 mph by morning.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid to upper 30's. Wind becoming out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Monday (President's Day): Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 40' to near 50 degrees. Wind out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Cloudy with showers likely with highs in the low 50's. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 20 mph.
