Hot stretch coming next week into next weekend after some rain Monday PM/night:

- Very warm to hot today, especially in northern Nassau and northwestern Suffolk with highs in the upper 80's (2nd image) with a slight chance of a scattered afternoon or early evening shower or thunderstorm.

- A good chance of some showers and thunderstorms later on Monday into Monday night (see 3rd image) before a hot stretch of weather starting next Tuesday and lasting into next weekend.

- No tropical storms or hurricanes are expected for at least the next 10 days.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Partly cloudy and pretty humid with a 30% chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid to upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind mostly out of the N at 5 to 10 mph, but shifting to W in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of an evening shower or thunderstorm with lows in the mid to upper 60's. Wind mostly out of the NNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny with low humidity in the afternoon with highs in the mid 80's in Nassau and low 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 to 10 mph becoming SE by late afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear with increasing humidity with lows in the upper 60's in Nassau and mid to upper 60's in Suffolk. Wind becoming light and variable.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and moderately humid with highs in the mid 80's in Nassau and low 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind nearly calm in the AM and then out of the SSE at 10 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Partly sunny and humid with a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening with highs in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph in the AM and 10 to 15 mph in the PM.

Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy and humid with a 50% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon/evening with highs in the mid to upper 80's in Nassau and mid 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Partly sunny and still humid with a slight chance of a stray thunderstorm with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid to upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind generally out of the WSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs around 90 degrees in Nassau and in the upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SW at 10 to 15 mph.
