- First, quick comments on Long Island with the 5-day forecast in the last image. Humid until tomorrow afternoon with a chance of a few showers and thunderstorms, especially with the cold front around late morning tomorrow with clearing skies and becoming breezy and less humid by late afternoon and especially in the evening. Then sunny and dry into next week with MUCH warmer weather for Labor Day into next Wednesday with highs mostly in the upper 80's.
- Also, before getting to Idalia, the Euro ensembles are showing a fairly strong signal for another potential hurricane late next week possibly heading towards the northern Caribbean Island or hopefully curving northwestward before getting there (see 2nd to last image).
- Idalia is now a minimal hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph with a minimum central pressure of 981 mb. Idalia will likely rapidly intensify this afternoon into tomorrow morning before landfall into a major and extremely dangerous hurricane. The NHC is projecting it to be a 120 mph Cat 3, but the hurricane models continue to show Cat 4 potential. I have included all of the maps below, and I will have numerous updates!
