Improving this afternoon, chilly tomorrow, but a good week overall, and then some rain this weekend:

- After some morning fog and a few scattered showers, the sun will come out by mid to late afternoon and it will become breezy. Tomorrow will be cooler with mostly cloudy conditions by late morning, and it will be breezy.

- Overall, nice weather from Wednesday to Friday, and then there will be a period of rain this weekend with the timing being a little uncertain, but the best chance looks to be Saturday night into Sunday morning.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Areas of morning fog with some scattered showers possible until early afternoon and then becoming partly to mostly sunny and breezy by mid to late afternoon with highs in the upper 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the E at around 5 mph in the morning and then WSW/SW at 15 to 20 mph with gusts near 25 mph by late afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy and breezy in the evening with lows in the upper 40's in Nassau and mid 40's in Suffolk. Wind out of the WSW/W at 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny early and then mostly cloudy by late morning and breezy with highs in the mid 50's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 15 to 25 mph.

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and breezy with lows in the low 40's. Wind out of the W at 10 to 20 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the low 60's in Nassau and around 60 in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60's in Nassau and mid 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NE at around 5 mph in the morning and then out of the S at around 10 mph in the afternoon.

Friday: Mostly sunny with highs around 70 degrees in Nassau and in the upper 60's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the NE at around 5 mph in the morning and then out of the SE at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday: Partly to mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of afternoon showers with most of the rain being at night. Highs in the upper 60's. Wind out of the ENE at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the SE at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Rain likely in the morning, but the exact timing is still uncertain, and then possible clearing in the afternoon with highs in the low 60's.
