Increased thunderstorm threat just west of Long Island:

Strong wind gusts and possibly a tornado can't be ruled out for the area in yellow in the 2nd image as the cold front comes through later this afternoon. There's no change to the forecast for Long Island with the rain arriving from west to east generally between around 6 PM and 8 PM as the thunderstorms will weaken somewhat as they get to Long Island. I'll be back later this afternoon and will be watching the radar. The last 5 images show the future radar for 4 PM, 6 PM, 8 PM, 10 PM, and midnight.
