- You know all about the major Arctic blast coming to the northeast from tonight into Saturday, and for inland areas to the north and northwest, its arrival will probably be accompanied by snow showers/squalls (see 2nd image for the future radar for midnight tonight). The max wind gusts are shown in the 3rd image, and they will generally be 35 to 45 mph with much higher gusts at higher elevations. You can see the Saturday morning minimum temperatures in the 4th image from the Model Blend and the wind chills for early Saturday morning from the Euro in the 5th image.
- Starting Sunday we will likely have at least 2 weeks of mostly above average temperatures (see 6th and 7th images for Long Island temperatures) with no snowstorms in sight for Long Island and southern New England.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Partly sunny in the morning and mostly sunny in the afternoon and becoming breezy in the afternoon with highs in the upper 30's to near 40 degrees. Wind light and variable early and then out of the SW at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Partly cloudy and windy with a very slight chance of some flurries late with lows in the mid 20's. Wind out of the WSW then W at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 to 30 mph.
Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, windy, and becoming increasingly frigid with temperatures in the mid 20's early in the morning and falling into the teens by mid to late afternoon with a wind chill dropping below zero. Wind out of the NW at 20 to 30 mph with gusts close to 40 mph.
Tomorrow night: Frigid and windy with mostly clear skies with lows of 4 to 9 degrees with a minimum wind chill of -8 to -16 degrees. Wind out of the NW at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, breezy, and frigid in the morning with a decreasing wind with late afternoon highs in the mid 20's with temperatures continuing to rise in the evening and overnight. Wind out of the WNW at 15 to 25 mph in the morning and then out of the W/WSW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday night: Partly to mostly cloudy with temperatures slowly rising into the low 30's by morning. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 15 mph.
