- There are still signals for a potential storm around December 23rd that has a chance to bring northeast snow with really cold air behind the storm for Christmas. For Long Island, the chances are still more than 50% that the storm will bring mostly rain, but we will see how it evolves as it gets a little closer as it's too far away to have any clarity on it.
LONG ISLAND FORECAST:
Today: Sunny with highs in the upper 30's to near 40 degrees. Wind out of the NW at around 10 mph.
Tonight: Clear, breezy, and cold with lows mostly in the mid 20's, but some low 20's in the Pine Barrens area in Suffolk. Wind out of the NW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts close to 25 mph.
Tomorrow: Sunny and windy with highs in the upper 30's. Wind out of the NNW at 10 to 20 mph with gusts close to 30 mph.
Tomorrow night: Increasing clouds towards and after midnight with lows mostly in the upper 20's. Wind out of the N at 10 to 15 mph.
Thursday: Rain developing in the afternoon between around 2 PM and 6 PM from west to east with afternoon highs in the low 40's with temperatures slowly rising at night. Wind out of the NE around 10 mph in the morning and then out of the ENE at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Thursday night: Rainy with increasing wind with gusts up to 35 mph from the ENE towards morning. Temperatures very slowly rising into the mid to upper 40's by morning.
Friday: Rainy and very windy in the morning with showers and breezy conditions continuing in the afternoon with highs near 50 degrees. Wind out of the ENE at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph in the morning and then out of the N at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph in the afternoon.
