Latest ice and snow maps as model blend also trends snowier for Long Island on Thursday:
The 1st and 2nd images are the latest ice (freezing rain accretion) and snow maps for the first storm (through 7 AM Wednesday) from the National Weather Service.
The 3rd image is the projected 24-hour snowfall from 7 PM Wednesday to 7 PM Thursday from the NWS model blend as it shows increased amounts for Long Island from its previous run. There will be more snow in central to northern New England and NY state after 7 PM Thursday. The general timing for Long Island is snow starting around late morning to early afternoon on Thursday with 2 or 3 inches being possible before changing to sleet and then rain by late afternoon or early evening, but there will still be shifts in timing and amounts.
