Latest snow maps, GFS may be misleading, and map for the snow on Monday in the northeast:
While the new GFS run shows a change to sleet and then rain for a while on Long Island, the GFS-Parallel, which will be the new upgraded GFS on March 17th, keeps it all snow on Long Island. The new Canadian run also keeps it as all snow on Long Island. I still think a period of sleet is likely, but I just wanted you all to be aware of what the GFS-Parallel is showing.
There will be some snow on Monday into Monday night in the northeast (see map in the last image), but Long Island it may only start briefly as snow before changing to rain.
The 1st to 5th images are the snow maps from the National Weather Service, NAM, GFS-Parallel, Canadian, and NWS model blend, respectively.
