Long Island snowfall by decade:

Long Island just had its snowiest decade in recent times. The image below shows the average annual snowfall for each decade at Brookhaven National Lab since the 1950's. It was compiled by Josh Timlin, my daughter's Earth Science teacher from a couple of years ago. So, yes, while the previous 2 winters have been below average in terms of snowfall, we had above average snowfall in 9 of the previous 10 winters before that.
