New snow maps from the National Weather Service:
Here are the latest snow maps from the National Weather Service. Once the composite map is updated for the northeast, I will post it.
Remember, it's a long-duration event that will go from tomorrow morning into Friday late afternoon or evening on Long Island, and more details on the Winter Weather Advisory are contained in the previous post.
I posted previously that it might not technically meet the requirements for a Winter Storm Warning. The following is from NWS NY: Please note an advisory was issued and not a warning because our winter storm warning is based on two sets of criteria timewise, 12 hr. and 24 hr. criteria. The 12 hr. criteria requires 6 inches of snow, and the 24 hr. criteria requires 8 inches. We are forecasting the snow amounts to materialize outside (taking longer to accumulate) of the aforementioned time requirements.
