Potential for strong to severe thunderstorms on Saturday:

Very warm today, but the humidity remains low in the afternoon, and then hot and humid tomorrow. Saturday will be very humid with periods of showers and potentially strong to severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, gusty winds, and possibly hail.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Mostly sunny with low humidity in the afternoon with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end, especially by late afternoon. Wind out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph, but becoming out of the S by late afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear with lows in the upper 60's in Nassau and mostly mid 60's in Suffolk. Wind out of the S at 5 to 10 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, hot, humid, and becoming breezy in the afternoon with highs around 90 degrees in Nassau and mostly in the upper 80's in Suffolk, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Humid with increasing clouds with a chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after midnight with lows around 70 degrees. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy and very humid with scattered showers and potentially strong thunderstorms with downpours, gusty winds, and possibly hail. Highs mostly in the mid 80's in Nassau and low 80's in Suffolk. Wind out of the SW at 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday: A slight chance of early morning showers and then partly cloudy and a little less humid in the afternoon with highs in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the W at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday (4th of July): Mostly sunny in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon with highs mostly in the mid 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 mph in the morning and then out of the S at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with a very slight chance of a late-day shower with highs mostly in the low 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 15 mph.
