Quick 3:30 AM post with the Long Island forecast and some images:

Today: Rain, moderate to heavy at times in the morning, tapering off to showers and ending between around 11 AM and 2 PM from west to east with the sun coming out shortly thereafter, and it will become breezy in the afternoon. Total rainfall should be close to 0.5" in Nassau and around 0.75" in Suffolk. Highs in the upper 50's to around 60 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind mostly out of the NE in the morning and then NNW by late afternoon at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tonight: Becoming mostly clear with lows in the low 40's. Breezy with gusts up to 25 mph from the NW.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs mostly around 60 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind gusts up to 20 mph from the NW.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with highs mostly in the mid 60's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SSW in the afternoon at around 10 mph.

Wednesday: Partly sunny in the morning and then mostly cloudy in the afternoon and warm with highs mostly in the mid 70's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at around 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Some showers are possible by evening.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of some showers in the afternoon. Highs mostly in the upper 60's to around 70 degrees, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW to SSW at around 10 mph.

Friday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of a few showers in the morning. Highs in the mid 60's.
