Quick 4:15 AM update on the tropics and Long Island weather:

Not much has changed since last night regarding the expected impacts to Bermuda from Hurricane Paulette, although the HWRF model is showing that it may not be quite as strong as it was showing it originally as it may not hit its peak intensity until after it pulls away from Bermuda.

The major story for the United States is still Tropical Storm Sally projected to be a strengthening hurricane with slow movement when it makes landfall near New Orleans on Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 inches are likely along and to the east of the center along the central Gulf Coast. Wind gusts of 75 to 90 mph are likely with a storm surge as high as 6 to 9 feet. I will have more updates today and this evening with the latest information.

Tropical Depression Twenty will likely become Tropical Storm Teddy by tomorrow and then a powerful hurricane by mid to late week, but it will curve northwestward well before nearing the Leeward Islands. It should stay east of Bermuda, but it will still need to be watched.
