Regarding the Tuesday system, the Euro, Euro ensembles, NAM, and RGEM all have snow farther north into NY state and southern New England. For Long Island, total accumulations could be 2 or 3 inches on the north shore of Nassau with perhaps only an inch on Tuesday with the rest coming Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, but it looks like some mixing with sleet and rain is possible, especially for the south shore, where accumulations may only be an inch or so.
All indications are that the big Thursday storm will stay south of Long Island and New England.
