Sunny, dry, and breezy, then showers, 70 degrees next Wed and cooler for Mom's Day weekend:

- For Long Island today and tomorrow, a very dry airmass will combine with gusty northwest winds, resulting in an elevated risk of fire spread. Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 to 35 mph are expected, with minimum relative humidity levels between 15 and 25 percent.

- There is an even higher fire spread risk for NJ today and tomorrow with a Red Flag Warning in effect.

- A cool day today with highs only in the mid 50's, and then we warm up a little for tomorrow and the weekend. There will be some showers Monday, probably mostly in the morning, and with an onshore flow, highs should only be in the upper 50's.

- More showers are likely, probably from around Tuesday afternoon into early Wednesday morning, and then a warm afternoon on Wednesday with highs in the upper 60's to maybe near 70 degrees.

- More rain for later next week and then cooler for Mother's Day weekend with highs maybe only in the low 60's.
