The Long Island forecast and timing the showers for late in the weekend:

After a cold start this morning, it will be a chilly day today with a breeze, which will continue into tomorrow, but we start warming up tomorrow and especially on Friday into the weekend. Generally sunny skies through Saturday, but then clouds will increase Saturday night. Rain will be moving up from the south on Sunday with showers possibly arriving by mid to late afternoon, but the exact timing is still uncertain. The showers will generally continue through Monday, but it's possible they could become more scattered Monday afternoon/evening.
