Tropical Depression Eleven, Water Temperatures, and Long Island Thunderstorms
- Tropical Depression Eleven is looking better now with convection near the center. I will post the 11 AM update from the National Hurricane Center when it comes out.
- As shown in the 2nd and 3rd images, warmer than normal water temperatures as we head into the heart of hurricane season is not good. It won't help Tropical Depression Eleven (future Josephine) though as wind shear and dry air will cause it to weaken from Sunday to Tuesday.
- Slow-moving thunderstorms are expected to pop up on Long Island early this afternoon with the best chance being near or just north of the Long Island Expressway. The 4th image is the simulated radar for 2 PM from the HRRR model.
