Tropical Storm Paulette trending farther west:
The main story for today in the tropics is probably the trend in the models for Tropical Storm Paulette to come closer to the east coast of the United States. See previous posts from today for more information and the complete picture, including the ensembles. This image is from the new 18Z run of the GFS as it's showing Paulette as a Category 3 hurricane off the southeast coast of the United States next week. While Paulette will likely come a lot closer to the coast than Rene, it will still likely say well offshore. The next two systems that will be coming off the coast of Africa will need to be watched closely.
