Up to 4 inches of rain possible for Long Island this weekend with a stormy night tonight:

Unfortunately, it will generally be raining most of the time on Long Island from late this afternoon or early this evening into early Monday morning with the heaviest rain being for tonight. Lighter scattered showers for tomorrow afternoon/evening with a steadier light to moderate rain for Sunday. As of now, the afternoon and evening on Memorial Day looks pretty good. Also, wind gusts will be up to 30 to 40 mph tonight into tomorrow morning with wind chill temperatures in the low 40's with highs for tomorrow mostly in the low to possibly mid 50's. There also coastal flood advisories and a high risk of rip currents.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

**Total rainfall for Long Island through Monday morning is expected to be between 2.5 and 4 inches**

Today: Increasing clouds with only a slight chance of a shower until mid-afternoon with the main area of rain arriving generally between 4 PM and 7 PM from west to east. Highs mostly in the mid to upper 60's. Wind mostly out of the ENE at around 15 mph with gusts over 25 mph by late afternoon.

Tonight: Rain, moderate to heavy at times, chilly, and windy with lows around 48 to 50 degrees. Wind out of the ENE to NE with gusts of 25 to 40 mph. Total rainfall by Saturday afternoon of around 1.5 to 2.25 inches.

Tomorrow: Windy and chilly with rain in the morning becoming mostly lighter showers in the afternoon. Highs only in the low to mid 50's. Wind out of the NE at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 or 40 mph, especially in the morning and by the shore.

Tomorrow night: Cloudy, breezy, and chilly with light showers at times in the evening becoming a steadier rain late. Lows around 48 to 50 degrees. Wind out of the NE at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Sunday: Cloudy, breezy, and cool with periods of rain likely throughout the day with highs in the upper 50's. Wind out of the NE at around 15 mph with gusts up to mph.

Memorial Day: Early morning showers possible, especially in Suffolk, and then becoming partly sunny with only a slight chance of a shower. Highs around 70 degrees. Wind becoming out of the NW in the afternoon at around 10 mph.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70's.

Wednesday: Increasing clouds with a slight chance of showers by mid to late afternoon with highs in the mid 70's.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 40% chance of some showers. Highs in the mid 70's.
