Update on all of the potential snow events for this week and weekend:
The system for tomorrow has shifted slightly farther north; the 1st image shows the projected snowfall through 1 AM Wednesday from the National Weather Service.
The new run of the 12km NAM has now also shifted southward with the snow for Thursday morning (see 2nd image), so there is an increasing chance that most or all of the snow stays south and southwest of Long Island. The next piece of energy for Friday morning may also stay south of Long Island.
Attention then turns to the potential weekend storm. There is still a lot of uncertainty in timing, strength, and track, but it appears there will be a storm tracking near or just off the coast Saturday night into Sunday (see 3rd image for 1 AM Sunday). This could bring snow or snow changing to sleet and rain for Long Island.
Then there will be another storm for the middle of next week, with of course an uncertain storm track.
The 4th image shows the projected snowfall for Long Island for the next 15 days as a running total from every Euro ensemble member.
I will continue to update.
