- Happy New Year's Eve! Please remember that you don't have to like the forecast to "Like" the post. - The system for Thursday into Friday morning is mostly a miss as the phasing between the northern and southern stream systems will take place offshore as its heading away. There may be some rain showers south and snow showers north, but it doesn't look like a big deal. Nova Scotia and Newfoundland have to keep a close eye on it though. - The next storm then is for next weekend from late Saturday night into Sunday with some cold air already in place. The GFS and Canadian have snow for Long Island and the Euro has the storm even stronger with a big snowstorm for just north of Long Island with strong winds for the coast, but many of its ensembles bring snow to Long Island. There is plenty of time to watch this, and it will be the main focus. - The storm for January 9th/10th will be a VERY strong storm cutting well inland, but it should bring heavy rain and strong winds to the northeast with the very early potential for a Wind Advisory with gusts up to 50 mph for Long Island and many other areas, especially at higher elevations and along the coast. - Then there is a potential storm around January 13th/14th with the best chance for snow being inland and north a bit, but we'll see how it plays out.
