Update on Major Hurricane Sam, the rest of the tropics, and thunderstorms for Long Island:

- Major Hurricane Sam has re-strengthened to a Cat 4 with maximum sustained winds of 130 mph, and some additional strengthening is possible. It will pass well east of Bermuda though, and then it's uncertain if it will affect Newfoundland, as you can see in the tracks from the Euro ensembles.

- Invest 90L and Invest 91L are both likely to become Tropical Depressions today or tomorrow, but they won't be a threat to the United States (see the Euro ensembles in the 3rd image). The next 2 names on the list are Victor and Wanda.

- There's no change to the forecast for Long Island, as there will be a chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as the cold front moves through. There is a chance for some brief heavy downpours and possibly gusty winds, and hail can't be completely ruled out. Dry weather then from tomorrow through the weekend with only a VERY slight chance of a light and brief passing shower on Thursday, but it's almost not worth mentioning.
