Update on the timing of the heavier rain as it will be milder next week, but cooler for Easter:

- Most of Long Island will just be cloudy for most of today as the rain will mostly be off to our west. There could be a few scattered showers in the late afternoon to early evening, but most of the rain with heavy downpours will be between 9 PM and 3 AM. I have included the future radar images below.

- After the mild weather for the middle of next week, cooler air will arrive for the 17th to 21st with highs likely in the 50's.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Cloudy with a chance of showers, mostly later in the day and with a better chance for western Long Island, with highs just above 50 degrees. Wind out of the E at 15 to 25 mph with gusts near 30 mph later in the day.

Tonight: Showers with some heavy downpours at times towards midnight with a chance of a thunderstorm with lows in the mid to upper 40's and rising towards midnight. Wind out of the ENE at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and then becoming out of the W by morning.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly sunny with a slight chance of a passing shower in the late afternoon with highs in the upper 50's to near 60 degrees. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow night: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of some scattered showers in the evening with lows in the low 40's. Wind out of the SSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Partly to mostly cloudy in the morning with a chance of a few showers and then partly cloudy with highs in the mid 50's. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Sunday: Partly cloudy with highs in the low to mid 50's. Wind out of the WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny with highs in the upper 50's to near 60 degrees. Wind out of the WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 60's in Nassau and mostly low 60's in Suffolk. Wind out of the WSW at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 60's in Nassau and mostly low to mid 60's in Suffolk. Wind out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph.
