Welcome to April! A cool and rainy start to the month, but we gradually warm up towards mid-month:

- The details for the Long Island forecast are below with showers still around this morning, and don't be surprised if there is a passing heavy shower around mid to late afternoon with small hail even being possible as the upper-level trough moves through. You can also see the snow for inland areas (3rd to 5th images).

- More showers for Sunday, and then a rainy period generally from Tuesday evening through Thursday.

- You can see in the 2nd image that it will be a cool beginning of the month, but we will gradually warm up into the 60's by mid-month.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:


Today: Scattered showers ending around mid-morning and then partly sunny and windy with more clouds in the afternoon with a chance of a passing shower with a brief heavy downpour and possibly small hail. Highs in the mid to upper 50's. Wind out of the W at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Tonight: A chance of an early evening shower, otherwise partly cloudy and windy with lows in the mid 30's in Nassau and low to mid 30's in Suffolk. Wind out of the NW at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny and breezy with highs in the low 50's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WNW at 10 to 20 mph.

Tomorrow night: Increasing clouds with lows mostly in the upper 30's, but some mid 30's in Suffolk. Wind decreasing and becoming out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Cloudy and cool with light showers with highs around 50 degrees. Wind mostly out of the SE at 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny with highs in the mid 50's in Nassau and lo to mid 50's in Suffolk. Wind out of the WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a shower by late in the afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 50's in Nassau and mid 50's in Suffolk. Wind out of the SSE at 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday: Rainy with highs in the mid to upper 50's. Wind out of the ENE at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: Cloudy with a chance of showers, mostly in the afternoon. Highs in the mid to upper 50's. Wind out of the ESE at 10 to 15 mph.
