European Model Shows Potential For a Tropical Storm or Hurricane to Come Close to East Coast Next Week

Late last week the GFS model was consistently showing a hurricane to possibly affect the east coast of the United States, but the last few days it has drastically reduced that potential. However, now the European model is showing that the system may develop late this weekend and come close to the east coast. The afternoon run of the European model has many of its ensemble member runs showing the system could in fact become Hurricane Gert and get dangerously close to the east coast next Tuesday/Wednesday. The following image shows the potential track according to this run of the European model:
