Idalia expected to become a dangerous Cat 3 major hurricane with Cat 4 being possible!

- For Long Island, basically humid with some rain at times from later tonight into Wednesday afternoon, and then beautiful weather with low humidity starting on Thursday with dry weather likely through Labor Day with a big warming trend. See last image for the Long Island forecast.

- Hurricane Franklin is a major hurricane at a 115 mph Cat 3 and is still expected to become a 130 mph Cat 4 tomorrow morning. I have included the map below.

- Idalia is up to 65 mph winds, and the high-resolution hurricane models continue to be super aggressive with Idalia showing Cat 4 potential! Also, the tracks from the models seem to have shifted a bit back to the west, but the NHC track remains nearly the same. The National Hurricane Center is now explicitly forecasting it to become a major hurricane with 115 mph maximum sustained winds in 48 hours, but they are also saying it is expected to continue to strengthen after that point right up until landfall, so anyone in the path should be preparing for a Cat 4! Also, check out the rainfall map below. I have also included the max wind gust map from the National Weather Service, but this will continue to be refined, but it does show max gusts over the water of 131 mph. The storm surge map is also below with a max storm surge of 7 to 11 feet, but that may increase. More updates to come throughout today and this evening.
