Less humid today, a nice weekend coming, and still nothing on the horizon in the tropics:

- Much less humid today and into tomorrow for Long Island, but with increasing humidity tomorrow night and lasting through Friday with some isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms at times (not washouts).

- A nice weekend is coming with low to moderate humidity.

- Not much rainfall overall for the next 7 days (see 3rd image), but locally higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms.

- The tropics are expected to remain quiet for at least the next 10 days with no tropical storms or hurricanes expected.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Mostly sunny in the morning and partly sunny in the afternoon and much less humid with a very slight chance for a light afternoon shower with highs in the mid 80's, but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then WSW at 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60's. Wind becoming light and variable after midnight.

Tomorrow: Partly sunny with low to moderate humidity highs in the mid 80's (mid to upper 80's in northwestern Nassau), but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 mph in the morning and then out of the S at 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tomorrow night: Increasing clouds and humidity with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after midnight with lows in the low 70's. Wind out of the S to SSW at around 10 mph.

Thursday: Partly to mostly cloudy, hot, and humid with a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms at times with highs in the upper 80's to near 90 degrees (heat index in the low to mid 90's), but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the SW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Friday: Mostly cloudy and humid with a 40% chance of some scattered showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon with highs in the upper 80's (heat index in the low 90's), but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and out of the SW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with low humidity in the afternoon with highs in the upper 80's in Nassau and mid to upper 80's in Suffolk, but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind generally out of the WNW to NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with low to moderate humidity with highs mostly in the mid 80's (85 to 87 degrees), but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the N at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and S at 10 mph in the afternoon.

Monday: Partly cloudy with moderate to high humidity with only a slight chance of a shower with highs mostly in the mid 80's (85 to 87 degrees). Wind mostly out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
