The heat goes on!

- Highs in the low to mid 90's for Long Island today with a heat index in the upper 90's. Heat Advisory from Noon today to 8 PM tomorrow. Tomorrow will be more humid than today, but the temperatures will be low, especially in southern and eastern Suffolk; however, the heat index will still generally be in the upper 90's for most of Long Island.

- Scattered afternoon and early evening thunderstorms tomorrow for the northeast, especially in New England. SPC even has the very slight 2% tornado zone down into western Long Island.

- Hot on Friday, but not as humid, and then a hot/humid weekend.


LONG ISLAND FORECAST:

Today: Sunny, very hot, and humid with highs in the low to mid 90's with a heat index in the upper 90's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the W at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and S at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly clear and uncomfortably warm/humid with lows in the mid 70's. Wind out of the S at around 10 mph.

Tomorrow: Mostly sunny, oppressively hot/humid (more humid than Wednesday), and becoming breezy with a chance of a mid to late afternoon or evening thunderstorm with highs in the low 90's in Nassau and northwestern Suffolk (heat index in the upper 90's near 100 degrees) and in the upper 80's elsewhere in Suffolk (heat index in the mid to possibly upper 90's), but a little cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the S to SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the S at 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon with gusts over 25 mph.

Tomorrow night: A chance of scattered early evening thunderstorms and then becoming mostly clear and remaining humid with lows in the low to mid 70's. Wind out of the W at around 10 mph.

Friday: Sunny and hot with moderate humidity with highs in the low 90's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WNW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and then out of the SW at 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday: Sunny and hot with moderate to high humidity with highs in the low 90's ( mid 90's in northern Nassau), but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WNW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and SSW at 10 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mostly sunny in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon and oppressively hot/humid with a chance of an evening thunderstorm with highs in the low 90's (low to mid 90's in northern Nassau), but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind generally out of the SSW at 5 to 10 mph in the morning and 10 to 20 mph in the afternoon.

Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy and humid with a chance of scattered thunderstorms with highs in the upper 80's, but cooler for the south shore and east end. Wind out of the WSW to SW at 10 to 15 mph.
